Final Project-Screen Time

Screen time has become a defining feature of modern life, shaping how people interact with each other and seriously influencing society and culture. Since the rise of apple iPhones, a variety of social media platforms, and streaming services, the average person is almost hand fed different types of content. Media consumption has gone from what once was a passing time ordeal, to a complete overload of algorithmic content being viewed by the same people on a daily basis. This constant engagement with screens can strengthen global connections by spreading ideas across different cultures, however it can also strip you of your attention span and social queues completely. Screen time has had a massive impact on our society, and especially Gen Z.  Screen time actually has a direct connection to media in our society. Media has embedded a very deep structure into a vast majority of Gen Z smartphone users. As a matter of a fact, the average American spends approximately 7 hours and 4 minutes...

Blog Project 2- Gabriel Townsend

Send Help Send Help! The movie of my choice for our second blog project, is the recently produced Sam Raimi film, Send Help. I chose this film, because it is my latest in-theater watch! It stands out to me because of its rambunctious timeline, as well as the key roles of the actors who partook in filming the movie. Before actually going and seeing it, I found the trailer for this movie on a TikTok video, which took from Fox News.  Directed by Sam Raimi, Send Help is a perfect example of how talented Raimi is when it comes to blending horror, and dark humor. Raimi also directed movies like, " The Evil Dead", as well as "Spider-M...

Midterm Winter 2026 Jujutsu Kaisen

For my midterm I went with the second option, which was a currently streamed show. For my show of choice, I went with Jujutsu Kaisen. I have been tapped in with the most recent season which was released, January 8th of this year! I first watched season 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen back in December of 2023, however the show struck the air for the first time back on October 3rd, 2020. In this blog post, I will be focusing on the most recent season that I have been watching on crunchy roll, " The Cullen Game" which has been releasing one episode per week, since January 8th. Jujutsu Kaisen, or "JJK", has a relatively complex plot when it comes to release dates of certain seasons or movies. JJK is a simple action-based shonen, with some supernatural twist to it. The latest episode I have watched of JJK would be episode 4 of this season. For background, the main character of this high-action anime is named Yuji Itadori, a young high schooler who gets entangled within a world of so...

My first blog for media and society

Hello, my name is Gabriel Townsend and I am currently a sophomore here at Linn-Benton Community College! I currently am majoring in business administration and am planning to land an associates degree after the 2026 spring term. As far as career goals go, I am a third generation part owner of Townsend Farms Inc. which was established by my grandpa dating back to 1972. I intend on working for the company full time as soon as I finish up my studies, as well as my basketball career. Aside from my education, a major reason I am at LB is to further expand my basketball career and continue to develop as a player, before I head onto a University in the fall of this year.  When it comes to Media, I am hoping to peak a new desire in keeping up with the world and all the important stuff that transpires daily. I would also like to generally expand my knowledge about these real world actions, and I want to start building more of my own independent view! Culture varies everywhere you go, ...
